ELE'S RACE INFORMATION

Ele's Race is an annual 5K Run/Walk that directly benefits Ele's Place - Lansing, a healing center for grieving children and teens. It's a fun-filled family event that helps to raise funds and awareness for Ele's Place. All Ele's Place bereavement support services are provided at no cost to families, thanks to our generous community and participants in Ele's Race 5k.

Course Information

Ele's Race is a 5K run/walk on a 3.1 mile course on the beautiful grounds of Jackson National Life Insurance company headquarters in Okemos.

Start time is 8:00 a.m., rain or shine. In the event of severe weather the race start will be delayed and conditions re-evaluated each hour. The event will be held as soon as weather permits. Entry fees are non-refundable. No drones, scooters, hoverboards, skateboards, rollerblades, bikes or pets please. Children 3 and under are free, and strollers are allowed.

Please be aware that some of the driveways and parking lots are closed down for a period of time to ensure the runners safety. Thank you for understanding.  Please see the schedule below for parking lot closure times.

Race Divisions

Male and Female
9 and under, 10-14, 15-16,  17-19,  20-24,  25-29,  30-34,  35-39,  40-44,  45-49,  50-54,  55-59,  60-64,  65-69,  70-74, 75 and over

Awards: Prizes will be awarded to the top five finishers in each race division, Male and Female, and the top five "Family Finishers" which is defined as a parent/guardian crossing the finish line hand-in-hand with a child 12 and under.

Grand Prizes: Will be awarded to: Overall Male and Female; Overall Male and Female Masters (age 40-49); and Overall Male and Female Grand Masters (age 50 and over)

Results: Race results will be scored using B-tags which affix to the bib number, and/or D-tags which affix to the shoelace. Race results will be posted on this web page immediately following the race.

Event Shirts: Registration fee includes one event shirt per participant. Sizes guaranteed only for those who register before July 6.

Activities and Entertainment

Kids Activities: Crafts and other activities will be available for children from 7:00am - 11:00am.

Kids Dash: A free 100-yard kids dash will take place at approximately 9:15 am. Every participant will receive an award! Youth tee shirts will be available for sale. You may register for the Kids Dash at Ele's Race Packet Pickup or on race day.

Kids Mile:  Registration for this one-mile course is free for kids, age 12 and under, and will start at 9:30am. You may register for the Kids Mile at Ele's Race Packet Pickup or on race day.

Memory Wall: On race day, participants will have the opportunity to write the name of a loved one onto the Memory Wall to celebrate the memories of those who have died.

Music: The Jackson Boomers will be playing live music on the course this year. Music at the finish line will be provided by Playmakers.

Dedicate a Memory Heart Sign at Ele's Race!

$20 donation, 12 x 12 heart, on a 3' stake. Will be placed along the "Memory Mile".

Parking

We strongly encourage you to allow plenty of time to arrive and park. We encourage you to carpool with friends and family to ease congestion.

Parking is available at Jackson National Life Headquarters. Ele's Race starts promptly at 8:00am and entry to the parking lot will be closed from 7:55 am until 8:15 or whenever the last walker passes the driveway. During this time, traffic in or out is prohibited, for the safety of the participants.

2018 Ele's Race Information - Thanks to all who participated!

RACE RESULTS HERE

The top five Finishers in each age bracket earn a prize, the coveted Ele's Race pint glass with artwork by an Ele's Place child. If you finished in the top five of your age group, you  may pick up your prize at Ele's Place during business hours, or contact us at elesrace5k@elesplace.org or 517-482-1315.

Other Fun Facts:

  • There were 897 runners and walkers that registered for the race.
  • More than 130 volunteers were on hand to help execute the event from top to bottom.
  • There were 43 teams created, with a total of 459 people – just over half of our total participants! What fun and energy they generate! Their enthusiasm for the mission of Ele’s Place is truly inspiring.
  • Approximately $75,000 net was raised by Ele’s Race 2018. This will help provide support groups for 150 grieving children or teens during this next year!
